Before the long weekend kicked off I wanted to post about this amazing tea company that I encountered from the World Tea Expo 2009.

Perfectly Natural Herbs is a “non-profit company whose goal is to help the poor spirituality and physically thorough values formation and economic development. All profits from [their] teas are directly invested in assisting Filipino communities.”  This project which is owned and operated by rural Filipino people, allows local people to support themselves and their families.

Their teas are also organically grown with fresh spring water from mountains in the southern Philippines.  If you’re wondering why their company name is Perfectly Natural Herbs, it’s because each one of their teas, or herbal blends, provides natural effective relief for specific illnesses.  The benefits of the teas are even recognized by the Philippine Department of Health as providing supportive treatment for many common ailments.

There are 6 herbal tea blends which covers a variety of health issues ranging from arthritis to kidney stones to urinary tract infections.

Founded by Tom O’Brien in 2003, he started with two goals in mind: 1.  To support community development projects in the Philippines through net profits from their own products and 2. To train local farmers organic farming methods in order to plant herbs used in making these herbal teas.  Currently in 2009, he has well surpassed these goals.  Take for instance, in Lanao Del Sur a new preschool for over 40 children just launched and in one month alone, 30 patients in one of the 3 clinics that has been opened were able to gets free cataract surgeries.
